2 Weeks Orientation Reflections

I have enjoyed the orientation camp, using of the learning device, and most importantly the experience at SST. I discovered that I need to have more confidence and try to speak up for myself as well as to participate more in various activities. I also discovered that I need to put the past behind and accept change, to head to the future and have a successful "transition" to SST. Things I want to improve include my Chinese and confidence as well as my willingness to participate. I have also learnt about the 3 Rs, Responsibilities as in that I must be responsible and do what I am told to do, Rights in which I have my own rights, rules and regulations and must not cross the boundaries and finally Roles, which I need to play a part in so the SST community would be a better one.

Camp Reflections

We went to the camp on January 6th to January 9th. It was overall a very fun experience as we got to do many fun activities, learn new things and made new friends.

Activities which I liked a lot were:

-The Cat and Mouse Game, where the cat had to catch the mouse and the mouse had to run into a "mouse-hole before the cat caught it.One of the people forming the mouse-hole would then become the cat and chase the previous cat.

-Abseiling, which we walked up to a very high platform and had to absail down.

-The Camp Fire, where we had to do our class skit and cheer where the skit was bad because we didn't practice before-hand as we had no time.

Things I learnt:

-To be confident(Speak up for yourself and volunteer.)
-To persevere (Don't give up until you tried your very best.)
-To come prepared (The camp fire skit was bad as we did not really come prepared)

I enjoyed the camp except for it's very long queues for food and bathing (Up to 45min if queue is long for bathing) :( Other than that its great :)

Day 2: End-of-Day Reflection

  1. What have you done today? - We built a tower and challenged with the rest of the classes' towers. We also learnt how to use  Keynote.
  2. How have your grown from today's activities? - I have learnt that teamwork is essential in finishing the task at hand.
  3. How should you behave when doing groupwork? - We should work like a group, like "group work" implies.
  4. Why are there differences of opinions? - We have differences as we are human beings and we think differently, so we need to find a common thinking to work out our differences and complete the task.
  5. Why are you happy to be a member of your class? - Yes, it is an opportunity of a life-time and I feel happy as not all the people that applied for SST entered, so I feel honored to have such a chance.

Day 1 Mac Attack 2 - Activity 1 Introduction to Keynote

  2. What have you learnt today? - I learnt about some rules about SST and the 3RS.
  3. Why did you choose to come to SST? I chose SST because I like using the computer (12hrs sitting :) and because I found it a interesting school :D
  4. What are your aspirations as a member of the SST family? - Become friends with more people and get good grades and help improve the name of SST
